I slept very poorly in the final week of Term 1. From Sunday to Wednesday, I went to bed every night at around 10:30 but got up before 4am each morning... On Thursday night, I went to sleep at 10:30 and got up less than 3 hours later! I was like a zombie teacher on Friday thinking that I will sleep like a pig since the holidays are finally here. On Friday, I slept just before midnight hoping to sleep past 9:00 am but I got up before 6:00 am. On Saturday, my Mum and I went to look for Janome sewing machines but found none. So, I went to my usual joint: Suria. It was there, right in front of Anakku that I collapsed spectacularly.
The workers for OPPO were dancing with their mascot on the floor below me and I was heading towards Mothercare. The last thing I saw was the little banner display in front of Anakku. I slumped forward and hit the ground in slow motion. My head landed on my left upper arm. Young natives rushed forward to help this clumsy Aunty while 4 Chinese girls could be seen freiaking out. One native young lady asked if I needed an ambulance. I thought about getting 4 as I tried to slowly stand up. I hurt both kneecaps and still got up unaided. I wasn't bleeding but my kneecaps were red with peeling skin. There was also a small patch of peeling skin on my left elbow. I do not know what caused me to fall.
My ex assistant came to fetch me and I did not let anyone know what had happened until the evening. My Mum was quick to ask if I needed the hospital.I refused. I have been applying Tiger Balm Muscle Rub twice daily ever since. The left knee cap is almost back to normal now. The right knee cap is improving very slowly. Interestingly, I discovered a bruise on the left side of my torso near a bruise on my inner left arm. I have been wondering how the bruise got there. I don't have any recollection of walking into something. Where is Mulder when I need him?

Another Year Another CNY
Wednesday was the last day of Kinder. We are now on an 11 day long CNY break. The first day of the break happened to be Australia Day. I was hoping to go for a haircut before dining at The Chub's but I was grounded because the rest of the household was in a bad mood. We also found out that my bestie's grandma passed away and we visited her at the funeral home in the evening. I tried again today to ask for a ride to Suria but ended up in a ride from hell. My Mum blasted at me all the way to the city. The shopping trip ended prematurely. I refused to be dropped off at the shopping centre but went to the bank instead so I could give my Mum a red packet tomorrow.
Tonight we did not go with the Liew clan for the reunion dinner. My Brother and I refused. I spent the evening eating a delicious dinner made by our helper and watched 2 episodes of the X Files on iFlix. The people are still in a bad mood preparing the house downstairs. I am just trying to get some peace and quiet hiding in my cell. The random shots of fireworks are just soooooooo ANNOYING!!!!!

The Sheng Nu Got Scammed Part 2
My Mum and I went down to the local police station to lodge a report about the conman that came in the afternoon. We had to wait because another man was before us. The bloke was complaining about another man failing to pay a debt of RM 100,000.
It was soon our turn and we were eager to offload everything. The officer heard that we have only lost RM 100 and so it was pointless to make a report even though we told him that we feared for my safety because I had given him a copy of my id card and two copies of my signature. The officer offered to ask his men to pay more attention to our house when they do their rounds.
We went home worried. I contacted my ex-student's Mum and she was surprised that nothing was done. My ex-assistant suggested that we lodge a report at the police station @ UTC on Thursday and my ex-student's Mum agreed.
@UTC, the waiting was only a mere few minutes. I was served by a female officer. She is Chinese with the same surname as me but I did not know. I spoke to her in Malay for the entire time and was glad that my Malay did not breakdown half way. I was also required to speak to a sergeant about what happened over the phone. The report was typed up and a copy was printed for me to keep. She informed me that the conman was probably after a quick buck and hopefully, may not misuse my ID card copy but if I find out that he did, I could use this report for the police to take further actions.
So far, nothing had happened. This was my first time dealing with local coppers on my own. When the thieves stole the safe, that was dealt with by my Mum and brother. I guess the last time I dealt with Malaysian police in a negative way was when I was 5. I poked my tongue at the same officer twice but on two different Saturday afternoons. He was not amused and he told my Mum off twice. Bloody no sense of humour!

The Sheng Nu Got Scammed
Today is the second day of the Malaysian school year here in Sabah. Unlike yesterday, today turned out to be better. The children behaved better and less were crying.
During my afternoon gig of providing after school care to 6 children, a man came to the front door asking to buy my Dad's old car. I told him that the car is not for sale and went on to ask my Mum to talk to him. That was when things turned shonky.
The man began with small talk regarding the car and then switched to people we know in the past. It was like he knew our neighbours from the 60's & 70's. Then he suggested an offer to secure a low cost home for me. I did not take everything that was said seriously. I just don't believe anyone would give me a leg up. By then he was already in our living room. He showed me a form and then asked that I give him a copy of my ID card. I was reluctant but I really did not want my Mum having a go at me. Whenever I refuse to commit into something of her choice, she has a tendency to brand me as a scaredy cat or a snob. So I copied my ID and gave him my signatures on the form. My Mum asked him multiple times if we need to pay down payments and he replied no. He also said that my monthly payment is less than RM 150. Apparently he would try to get me a corner lot and apparently the houses are all terraced house. I sat there wondering how generous our government is in giving away a house to a spinster with no kids.
As he stood up looking like he was about to leave, he asked for a drink to which my Mum quickly offered. As my Mum handed him a cup, he asked my Mum to pay a RM 650 processing fee. My Mum 'woke up' and refused outright. She turned to me and I refused right away also. He offered to half the amount but my Mum who was still hopeful to see her daughter getting a new home out of the blue, eventually settled to pay him RM100. With that he offered to take us to Kinarut to view the home on Sunday and to complete the payment then.
I just did not think he was legit even though he promised nothing presented is illegal. I felt so terrible that I sought the help of my ex student's Mum. She is a cop from the special branch. She suggested that we lodge a report at the police station.

Bye Bye 2016
2016 is coming to an end and I am Glad that it is.
I started the year with a brand spanking new Samsung phone but by November, its camera is no longer working. Everything is jammed...
I continued being a class teacher of 4 year olds of a Chinese class, playing the main role of uplifting the standard of English in all 3 Chinese classes. I was given a lovely assistant who gelled well with me most of the time. By June, I had to fight the big girls to keep her till the end of the year. Today, G had been despatched to the best 6 year olds class for 2017. M, a chubbyb native is my new assistant.
Bullying in the workplace continued in 2016. I was made to feel like they could do without me. By November, it was blatantly obvious that I was only hired to give face to my Mum, who is on the board. It was a confusing time because the parents of my class loved me to bits. I totally regretted not sending out a survey to the parents to get testimonies on the quality of my service. Will definitely have to do something in January with the new batch of parents.
The holidays are coming to an end. I am thankful that I had subscribed to iFlix because it had entertained me for hours during the month when I was totally stressed out. I had the opportunity to rent another place to operate my English teaching after school but my finances was not pretty enough for me to go solo. I thought it was going to happen. It felt like God was backing me up. As for work and after the recent spate of incidents, I finally feel like I am permitted to finally leave for good. When that is completed, I will definitely blog about it here.
I hope that 2017 is a good year and to all quiet ones who read my blog, "Happy New Year".

Beginners 'Binge Watching'
About 9 days ago I did something I definitely wouldn't have done back in Melbourne but back then there were no such services to subscribe to. We had FOXTEL and we have Astro now but I could only access all that in the living room. So, what do you think I did to entertain myself? I subscribed to iFlix for a month long trial. 😬
It has given me an opportunity to listen to a lot of English all day long . I got to watch an entire series of Survivor in 3 days, first time in 5.5 years! I am still going through every episode of Lewis, averaging one or two per day.
There are still many other shows to watch like Victoria, Downton Abbey and Sherlock. I love British WhoDunnits and wish that there are more available. I haven't even watched a movie yet. I like it how I could watch something anytime in my room. I don't have to follow a schedule. I could turn something on while I work. And there are NO ads! So convenient!
iFlix has made my holidays slightly more bearable. It has enhanced my life in KK. It is a good form of entertainment for part time hikikomori to pass the time in a 'cell'.
