Visiting the hairdresser's used to be a luxury when I was in Melbourne. Back then, I had long hair and I would pop in for a trim twice/thrice a year.
A few months after I came home, my Mum insisted that I have my locks chopped off to freshen up. I haven't had long hair since 2011. Nowadays I go to the hairdresser's approximately once every 6 - 8 weeks. My latest visit was last Saturday. It was my 2nd visit to this male hairdresser and it must have been the fifth time that I had asked for a Pixie cut.
While I was waiting to be served, I toyed with the idea of getting a super short buzz cut. So short that I could have my scalp tatooed. Is there such a thing as a temporary tatoo? I don't have any design ideas but I wish to make a statement. Since people like to stare at me like I am some type of a freak, I might as well shock them furthermore with a super strange hairstyle.
Such a short style on a woman could be perceived as a kind of protest and the establishment (the Kindergarten where I work) may not take kindly to it. So I might have to shelf the idea until I could fire myself from my teaching job at the Kindergarten. That totally depends on the progress of my afterschool gig. I have promised myself that I would leave that awful place once I have reached a minimum quota and I think that I could reach that figure by March/April next year. I love steady progress.
I have since spoken to a teacher about my wish to get a buzz cut. She took me aside to ask me if I was under a lot of stress lately. LOL. The head teacher was complaining to me about a teacher's new hair do yesterday and I took the opportunity to ask her opinion on a female teacher with a buzz cut. She looked at me with a big question mark on her face and asked, "Why would a woman want to have such short hair? Is she intending to join a nunnery?" She went on to say that there's little she could do if a teacher really did get such a hairstyle. So may be I should head back to the hairdresser's this weekend?
