My Mum and I went to a movie on Friday. It is a rare treat. This was only the 4th movie I ever watched with my Mum at a cinema since I was born. The movie was 'The Journey' (一路有你).We watched it at Suria because I find the place cleaner. We almost didn't make it to the movie because the choice to not include my Mum's helper was a risky one. We left the house as she exploded away in the kitchen. LOL.
I didn't know the actor playing Benji but he looked very familiar. I was convinced right from the beginning that he is not very British. His accent was traveling around the world at great speeds. Just when I suspected that he spoke Aussie, he started to sound Pommy again. I was dying to google 'Ben Andrew Pfeifer' right away. As it turned out, the guy is from Melbourne and he studied at VCA, just across the road from my old Melbourne home! LOL. No wonder he looked so bloody familiar.
I had wanted my Mum to watch the movie with me because I had wanted her to see that 'outsiders' could find it hard to get the hang of the Chinese way of doing things, especially when it involves stubborn people. I would like her to see it via a humorous angle so she didn't get offended. My Mum enjoyed the movie and agreed too that Uncle Chuan was old fashion.
The movie is still going on at the cinema. It is not too late to watch it there. I definitely will buy it when it comes out on DVD. I don't buy a lot of DVDs like the X but it is this good.
Question (24/02): Come to think of it, I wonder if the Melbourne actor was at VCA when a hot air baloon crash landed inside the campus near Grant Street?
