Christmas Is Nearly Here

Last Saturday marks the start of my Christmas holidays. I handed in the yearly plans for 2 subjects and got going. The janitor asked if I am going away for the holidays but this must be the first time I am not at this time of the year. I am dead broke and heartbroken.

Here in this part of Malaysia, our church sends a team to our house each year to sing Christmas carols. They came tonight. It was nice of them, I think. Tonight, my Mum did not forget to request "O come all ye faithful". That was my father's favourite. I don't know if it is by coincidence but they did sing "Away in a manger" in Mandarin (yes, the language of my tormentors). That has always been my favourite. Little MG and my Mum received the group at the front door while I hid myself from view behind the partition.

Over there in beautiful Melbourne, I watch Christmas carols on tv on Christmas Eve. Carols by Candlelight is held not far from our apartment. I could walk out to the little balcony to hear them live but most of the time I was busy wrapping up toys for his nephews and nieces. Those were the days.
